‘She’s not an American’: New Miss America suffers racist abuse

No wonder Americans are having a problem with Islam when they have difficulty in distinguishing a Hindu from a Muslim !

Time for some radical re-education!…..NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE ABOUT A PERSON’S ETHNIC ORIGIN WHEN THEY ARE WINNING OLYMPIC MEDALS FOR AMERICA!…….WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?……..SOUR GRAPES?

The crowning of the first Miss America of Indian heritage has been met with a barrage of racist abuse on Twitter.

Miss New York Nina Davuluri celebrated her background with a Bollywood fusion dance number as part of the ‘talent routine’ she had to perform for the competition.

But the after the 24-year-old’s win, abusive messages began to flow with one person writing: ‘If you’re #Miss America you should have to be American.’

Another tweeted: ‘WHEN WILL A WHITE WOMAN WIN #MISSAMERICA? Ever??!!’

Others seemed confused by her dark skin and began to label her a terrorist.

‘I am literally soo mad right now a ARAB won. #MissAmerica’

‘How the **** does a foreigner win miss America? She is a Arab! #idiots’

But Ms Davuluri brushed off the comments saying: ‘I have to rise above that. I always viewed myself as first and foremost American.’

In her first press conference, in Atlantic City, New Jersey’s Boardwalk Hall after winning she added: ‘I’m so happy this organization has embraced diversity.

‘I’m thankful there are children watching at home who can finally relate to a new Miss America.’

The native of Syracuse, New York, wants to be a doctor, and is applying to medical school, with the help of a $50,000 (£31,500) scholarship she won as part of the pageant title.

Her grandmother said she cried with delight when she saw the news on television.

‘I am very, very, happy for the girl. It was her dream and it was fulfilled,’ said 89-year-old V Koteshwaramma, speaking from her home in the city of Vijaywada, in the east of India.
