‘Horrific animal abuse’ captured on halal slaughterhouse spycam
Bowood Farms, in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, was exposed when animal welfare group Animal Aid revealed hidden camera footage showing animals being abused.
The shocking footage showed a Muslim worker hacking and sawing at animals’ throats, and sheep being kicked and punched, lifted by their ears and hurled into solid structures.
It also showed a worker standing on the neck of a conscious sheep and bouncing up and down as staff erupted into laughter as a sheep bled to death with spectacles drawn around its eyes in green paint.Administrators said the company has now stopped trading after a probe into the footage by the Food Standards Agency (FSA). The four culprits had their operating licences suspended after the investigation was launched by the FSA in February. In a statement, insolvency expert Leonard Curtis said: “Prior to our appointment, the company had ceased to trade and all employees have subsequently been made redundant. The joint administrators are actively seeking interested parties for the property and assets.”Andrew Tyler, from Animal Aid, said: “‘The lesson of Bowood, and the secret filming that Animal Aid has been undertaking since 2009, is that CCTV, with proper independent monitoring of footage, is an absolute priority for all UK slaughterhouses.“The regulatory and political authorities have delayed for too long. The comprehensive evidence we have presented makes clear that cameras will have a significantly beneficial effect.”UK law requires abattoirs to stun animals before slaughter to prevent unnecessary slaughtering but are there exceptions for Jewish and Muslim producers. The government has even refused to insist that meat produced by unstunned slaughter should be labelled so as to give supermarket customers the choice of whether to buy it or not. Irrespective of the fact that some halal slaughterhouses apply for a special licence,on religious grounds, to slaughter without stunning and ignoring the often cruel and unhygienic conditions in some Halal slaughterhouses, our governments are failing to realise and appreciate the implications of unknowingly eating Halal products from a Christian point of view.According to Christian doctrine it is not permissible or acceptable to consume meat that has been slaughtered in the name of Allah. These concerns are addressed in the following video:
In addition to major supermarkets these and many other producers and fast food outlets fail to inform that some or all of their products are halal.
