Walsall food business shut over rat droppings

A food business in Walsall has been closed down after evidence of rats was found.

Bangla Line Ltd in Bentley Lane Industrial Estate was shut after rat faeces was found on the floor of the storage warehouse along with large holes.

A hygiene emergency prohibition notice was served and approved at the town’s magistrates court yesterday.

David Elrington, environmental health manager at Walsall Council, said: “Rodents in any food premises is a serious business.

“Rats spread diseases such as Leptospira, their faeces contaminate food products, and their gnawing also damages food stocks and property.”
